People often ask me about my entrepreneurial and ministerial journey. Truth be told, starting a business and being in ministry were two things far from my vision board. Over time I’ve learned that God has a way of shifting your life and using your story for His glory. The bio above speaks of my credentials and gives the polished version of who I am. Below, I’ve shared the backstory of how God transformed my pain into power and used it to catapult me into my purpose! God is no respecter of persons and I know He can do the same for you.

My Story…

FROM PAIN to POWER & PURPOSE

As a Christian woman and a leader in the church, someone who women of all ages looked up to, I secretly believed that I needed to “have it all together” every day in every way. As a result and before long, I ended up being an accomplished woman who wore 4-inch heels, a smile, and beautiful makeup, but my well-put-together appearance served as an internal cover-up. The truth is, I was broken.

THE ROOT OF IT ALL

I struggled with guilt. Shame. Fear and regret. My self perception was misconstrued and I secretly battled low self-esteem even though others thought highly of me. I experienced inner turmoil throughout my teenage years and into early adulthood because I decided to remain silent after a rape that stole my innocence. Persuaded by the perils of victim shaming, I was afraid to speak up. I hid my hurt from my parents and loved ones. As a result, I navigated life with an amazing support system but I was stuck in a cycle of self-sabotage in many areas of my life because I didn’t address the trauma. While in this cycle, I compromised my faith and my values often. I also allowed my emotions to dictate my choices instead of the biblical wisdom which was once my foundation. I covered my pain with my pursuit of academic and professional success and I entered relationships with a skewed view of love. Inevitably, this led to many heartbreaks. Needless to say, I became accustomed to filling a God-sized void with people and patterns that perpetuated limiting beliefs about myself, my future, and what I deserved. I was in desperate need of renewal, healing, and a total life transformation from the inside-out.

The RENEWAL & TRANSFORMATION

In my mid twenties, I finally decided it was time for a change. I no longer wanted to keep a band-aid on my brokenness. I surrendered all of my hurt to the Lord, sought a Christian counselor, and I delved into the Bible like never before. As I grew more intimately with God, I literally asked him to “make me over” and to “create in me a clean heart”. For time sake- I’ll tell you that He did! My mindset, habits, desires, and patterns all transformed.

Out of my desire to live an abundant life, I made a commitment to myself and to God that I would no longer walk in pain but walk in the power He’d given me to exhibit in all facets of my life. I vowed to fully pursue my passion, purpose, and God’s plan. Additionally, because I made many carnal decisions while in relationships before meeting my husband, I also vowed to enjoy my season of singleness until God sent the right man my way.

It wasn’t long after my life shifted that I began to experience a strong desire to equip and empower others to redefine their reality and walk in newness. My goal was to help women avoid and/or overcome the habits and cycles that can so easily entangle us when we choose not to be real, deal, & heal from our past hurts so we can be whole. Ultimately, God ignited in me a passion to equip women to live a life of freedom and true fulfillment!

ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER

In 2012, while on my quest to empower women, I launched a video blog, Truth2RenewHearts. Today, the brand has evolved into Truth2RenewHearts Enterprises, LLC a life-enrichment firm equipping women to maximize their life, love, and leadership by breaking down limiting barriers and pursuing their passion with persistence and power. The meaning behind the name Truth2RenewHearts? My approach to business and ministry is based on the truth of God’s Word which is the foundation of the renewing of our mind (Romans 12) and the renewal of our hearts (Psalm 51:10).

I have no doubt that God transformed me completely so He could use my story for His glory. As God cleaned me up and turned my life around, He also allowed my path to cross with an amazing Christian man who is now my husband of almost ten years (Yes, Lord! *smiles*)! Let me tell you, I’m extremely grateful that I committed to a life-makeover process before marrying my husband, Julian. My marriage wouldn't be all I’ve dreamed of if I hadn't.

After settling into marriage, God reignited my childhood literary passion. I knew it was time to write my first book. After being healed emotionally from many dead-end relationships and upon numerous lessons learned, I didn’t want to keep the life and relationship wisdom I had learned over the years, to myself. As a result, in 2015, I released Positioned To Be Found: How to Prepare Yourself for Marriage Right Now and within two days of its release it hit as an Amazon Best-Seller in multiple categories! This book will be relaunched this Fall, so stay tuned!

Writing & publishing this book paved the way for an unexpected, yet welcomed expansion of my business- the evolution of the publishing branch of the enterprise. Today, I coach entrepreneurs and ministry leaders through the process of writing, releasing, and publishing their expertise and stories so they can expand their influence and increase their impact. You can learn more about my Christian Self-Publishing & Branding Consultancy here.

There’s so much more to share with you, but this is a brief narrative right now. Be sure to follow my lifestyle blog where you’ll get a more in depth glimpse of my life, but moreover, you’ll be empowered with tangible, practical, and biblical guidance for living, loving, and leading, God’s way.

I can boldly testify that what the enemy meant for evil when my innocence was stolen and my life was secretly in shambles a few years ago,- God turned it around for my good and ultimately for His glory! He has worked ALL things together, and I believe He will do the same for you as you fully surrender to Him and allow Him to transform and renew your life too. His plans are beyond what you can ask, think, or imagine!

MY EVERYDAY LIFE

When I’m not coaching authors, speaking, or teaching you’ll find me reading a good book, eating ice cream, crunching on jalapeno chips, or relaxing. In addition, you’ll find me laughing and lounging with my four year old son or cuddling my precious baby girl. I also enjoy dates with my hubby and occasional ladies’ nights with my sister friends who are like family. Listening to classic Motown hits and line-dancing are two of my favorites as well!
